  • God, Man, and the Environment
    By Samuel Gregg, D.Phil. (April 20, 2005)

On April 22nd, much of the world will celebrate international Earth Day. Like many fads, the popularity of this event has waned throughout much of the West. This may owe something to the fact that the dire consequences predicted by many ecologists have not eventuated. Despite this, many people of faith continue to preach a type of “Green Gospel,” claiming that an ecological apocalypse will be upon us unless various policies – usually involving various forms of government regulation – are immediately adopted.

  • Dominion and Stewardship
    Believers and the Environment

    By Samuel Gregg, D.Phil. (April 30, 2004)

“Man is created to praise, reverence and serve God our Lord, and by this means to save his soul. • Evangelical Environmental Declaration Seeks Consensus on Controversial Views
      By E. Calvin Beisner, Ph.D. (November 27, 1993)

Do Christians have a responsibility for the environment? Certainly, and the Evangelical Environmental Network is right to remind us of that. But we also have a responsibility to think and act in regard to the environment in a manner that reflects the full spectrum of Biblical revelation and a prudent regard for truth in empirical issues. The Evangelical Declaration on the Care of Creation, sadly, falls seriously short of these two ideals.   CA
